WHEN I FALL IN LOVE by Susan May Warren

“I am so far outside of my comfort zone I’ve lost sight of it.”
–Grace Christiansen

Grace Christiansen catered her brother Darek’s wedding and as a gift for her wonderful cuisine, she prepared the family pitched in to send Grace on a three-week culinary vacation in Hawaii to broaden her knowledge of cooking and culinary skills. At first, Grace rejects the gift opportunity because she does not want to travel so far from home and the fear of flying both take her outside of her comfort zone. Making matters worse, Darek calls upon his friend Maxwell who is attending the same culinary event as he has in the past three years to accompany and keep a protective on Grace while on the island. Maxwell is not readily agreeable to the idea but cannot refuse due to a secret he holds along with Darek regarding Darek’s brother Owen’s hockey accident.

Meanwhile, Raina, Grace’s employee, who indulged in a one-night stand with Grace’s brother Owen and involuntarily placed on the Evergreen dragon boat team by Owen’s brother Casper when he rescues Raina in the rain with a stalled car stuck in the mud trying to deliver pizza to his home for the team meeting. Raina has sworn off all Christiansen men but cannot seem to resist Casper and his genuine courteous ways. Maxwell and Raina  have surprising secrets being kept from the ones they truly love but are afraid what they are holding on to might create devastating repercussions if discovered.

When I Fall in Love has a great storyline and strong characters even though it begins slow and picks up becoming a real page-turner until the end of the book. This novel is a very intelligent read that leaves the reader with plenty of heartfelt emotions and wanting just a little bit more of the Christiansen family saga.
